MEDIA RELEASE - Limited opportunity to secure a special piece of Australia

John Lechner a Fine Art Photographer from the Hunter Valley, Australia will proudly exhibit his My Australia collection at New Century Artists, Chelsea from 2 – 28 June 2015.

This exhibition is a dream come true for Lechner, who bravely gave up full-time employment to chase his dreams. The exhibition will feature eight fine art pieces from Maitland, Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and more. All are within 4 hours drive from his home in Australia.

While Lechner’s fine art portfolio features prints from around the world including Iceland, France, Prague and Cambodia it will be his Australian images, which will proudly feature at the exhibition.

“This exhibition is about giving New Yorkers a special slice of Australia as I see it, and not the typical Sydney Harbour Bridge or the Opera House shots”, said Lechner.

“All artworks are printed onto a textured heavy cotton paper which blurs the lines between photography and painting, giving the pieces a rich velvety appearance”.

This exhibition follows collaborative shows held in New York City and Philadelphia last year to test the market. During this time, Lechner was able to meet with gallery owners and framers. Upon his return home to Australia he had two gallery offers for his first-ever international solo exhibition.

A preview of the exhibition of the exhibition is available online. Pre-sales are available for savvy collectors.

Make a statement with art - Maitland Mercury 10 March 2015

Maitland Mercury

As featured in the Maitland Mercury on 10 March 2015

Story by Jessica Green

Well-known photographic artist John Lechner has launched a venture to make high-quality art available to Maitland’s small businesses, in fact we service businesses in Maitland, The Hunter, Newcastle, Central Coast and Sydney NSW.

Titled Artwork Rentals the business does exactly what the name says, it rents art. “Whether it is a doctor’s waiting room or an accountant’s meeting room, these spaces can look dull and boring,” Mr Lechner said.

“A good artwork can bring people enjoyment for the 15 minutes that they have to sit there waiting. “It also makes the space look professional. “Artwork can really make a difference.” Artwork Rentals has a wide collection of art that businesses can choose from and there are plans for expansion.

Each client fills in a questionnaire to identify what in the collection would suit their work space. They sign up to a contract to rent one or more artworks and every four months the artwork is changed to something new. Full story read here.

Story by Penelope Green - Newcastle Herald 3 March 2015

Extract

WE’VE all been there before. Waiting to see a doctor or an accountant or physiotherapist and staring at a wall devoid of any decoration but for an ugly clock or outdated poster.
You can kill time by checking your email or reading a very outdated magazine. But what if you could feast your eyes upon a euphoric print of, say, an Icelandic water sunset that all but transports you to that mystical place?
According to John Lechner, businesses have a lot to gain by adorning their parameters with objects of beauty.
To that end, he has launched Artwork Rentals, which hires high quality art works to businesses to add value to their operations.
‘‘It’s about giving your office a professional feel,’’ says Lechner, whose studio is based in Bolwarra Heights, near Morpeth.
‘‘If your clients are spending a lot of time talking or waiting for you they want to feel welcome and feel like they are valued.

Innovative new business helping to enhance offices across the Hunter

John Lechner Fine Art Prints is delighted to announce the launch of Artwork Rentals, an exciting new Hunter business creating a service-based art library.

Founder, John Lechner is focusing on making high quality local and international artwork available to businesses in the Hunter Region.

“I want to make art accessible to everyone. For an affordable monthly fee we put art within reach of most businesses large or small, helping transform their office or reception areas. Renting art can be the fraction of the cost of purchasing artworks and makes good business sense”, said John.

“Our initial launch will be in the Hunter Region only but as we expand we will service Sydney and the Central Coast. Hopefully in time Artwork Rentals will be a national business”.

Artworks will be swapped every four months, giving the space a refreshed look and helping portray a warm and welcoming environment. Customers will be able to choose from a wide variety of fine art prints from around the world including Australia, Cambodia, France, Iceland, Czech Republic, America and many more.

“We also offer a rent-to-buy option. If a customer particularly likes a rented artwork they can buy it out for a discounted price that takes into account their rental”.

MEDIA RELEASE - Beyond Iceland; one man’s journey

The fine wine and cheese was a perfect match for the 26 breathtakingly stunning fine art prints on display at John Lechner’s inaugural solo exhibition on Saturday, 18th October.

More than 60 guests attended the Iceland Collection exhibition launch at Four Point Gallery, Newcastle immersing themselves in a journey which John describes as every photographer’s dream.

“Iceland has always been in my top five places to shoot with its stunning natural beauty and contrasting landscapes. It is a fantasy land of snow and ice, volcanos and glaciers. A stark contrast”, said John.

“For me the Iceland Collection is all about forging my new path as an artist and fulfilling my dream”.

The next stage in John’s journey was to have his own solo exhibition, which is now proudly hanging on the walls at Four Point Gallery, Newcastle.

Four Point Gallery is an artist run gallery through the avenue of Renew Newcastle. Located on the West end of Newcastle, Four Point is focused on creating a supportive environment that is accessible and affordable for local and emerging artists. Four Point Gallery was opened in September 2013 by Kate Wilson, Vicki Gerritsen, Kelly Barlin & Kelsey Fletcher.

Kate Wilson is a Sydney expatriate and after hearing about the Renew Newcastle initiative, she contacted everyone she knew from art school to find out who would like to submit a proposal for the initiative.

“Renew Newcastle gave us a tour through a boarded up shop front that had been empty and collecting dust for more than 10 years.  After seven weeks of renovating the space night & day the gallery had its grand opening in September 2013 with more than 600 guests in attendance”.

Today, Four Point Gallery exhibits the work of Newcastle’s finest emerging visual artists with all the works for sale and exhibitions turning over every three weeks.

The Iceland Collection exhibition is NOW OPEN every Thursday til Sunday at Four Point Gallery, 681 Hunter Street. All pieces are for sale.

Media Release: Local Hunter photographer launches Iceland Collection

Hunter Valley fine arts photographer John Lechner, is getting set to launch his Iceland Collection, showcasing 26 breathtaking images from the land of fire and ice.

A robust love of photography paired with a keen desire to explore, has seen John travel the world to capture breathtaking images. John has recently visited Cambodia, France, Iceland and Czech Republic in the pursuit of the perfect shot.

The Iceland Collection is a carefully curated selection of images taken during John’s time in Iceland. Starting with over 5,000 images, and after much deliberation, John carefully picked the final 26 images that will feature in the exhibition.

“Iceland has always been in my top five places to shoot with its stunning natural beauty and contrasting landscapes. During my time in Iceland I was inspired by the loneliness, isolation and pure beauty of the country,” said John.

“Iceland is a raw, barren and harsh place, but this is why is it so beautiful. Trees barely grow, grass thrives in the spring sun but freezes in the winter snows. The landscape was truly inspiring.”

John is pleased to be able to share his exquisite 26-piece, fine art collection at his upcoming exhibition. The Iceland Collection will launch on Saturday 18th October, 2014 at Four Point Gallery, 681 Hunter Street, Newcastle. The exhibition is open 16 October to 2 November Thursday to Sunday 12:00pm – 4:00pm at Four Point Gallery, 681 Hunter Street Newcastle.

Local Photographer to Fly Aussie Flag in USA

Local Photographer to Fly Aussie Flag in USA

Local photographer John Lechner is preparing to exhibit a collection of his Hunter Valley images in the United States during November this year. John will visit Philadelphia and Brooklyn where he will exhibit his work as part of the international RAW artist movement, across two individual showcases.

John recently exhibited at the RAW Showcase held in Newcastle on the 25 July, an opportunity that has opened many doors since. RAW is an international community made up of creative individuals across the globe and currently operates in nearly 60 cities across the United States, Australia, Canada and London.

“Being involved in the Newcastle RAW Showcase has allowed me to be eligible to participate in RAW events all over the world. Exhibiting in the United States has always been a dream of mine and as an artist I see New York as having a real predominance in the art world”, said John.

“As I evolve as an artist I see the US market being a key growth place in showcasing my work and I plan to hold a solo exhibition there next year. This current opportunity will hopefully set the foundations in achieving this vision I have.”

Having recently returned from shooting in Cambodia and Iceland, John is no stranger to travelling overseas to capture stunning imagery.

“While I travel the world to bring breathtaking images home, it’s now time for me to fly the Aussie flag overseas and show off the beauty that is in our own backyard”, said John.

John will be taking limited edition Hunter Valley pieces including Bolwarra Golden Morning and Reflections on Lostock with him overseas. View the Australia collection here: http://johnlechnerfineartprints.com.au/collections/australia

Once in a lifetime trip

MEDIA RELEASE - Once in a lifetime trip

Chasing dreams; from Bolwarra to the Land of Fire and Ice

For Hunter Valley based photographer, John Lechner inspiration comes from home and abroad. Entering foreign countries, with the fresh eyes of an inquisitive traveller, enables John to capture what many can only dream of.

John’s recent journey saw him traveling solo with his photography gear in tow, to a country he describes as the fantasy land.

“Iceland has always been in my top five places to shoot with its stunning natural beauty and contrasting landscapes. It is a fantasy land of snow and ice, volcanos and glaciers. A stark contrast”, said John.

“During my time in Iceland I was inspired by the loneliness, isolation and pure beauty of the country. I spoke to very few people there in my two weeks. Much of the time it was because I was so immersed in the landscape, I had all the company I needed”.

“Iceland is a raw, barren and harsh place, but this is why is it so beautiful. Trees barely grow, grass thrives in the spring sun but freezes in the winter snows. The landscape was truly inspiring”.

With the journey to Iceland both long and arduous for Australians, John is pleased to be able to share his exquisite 24-piece, fine art exhibition at his upcoming Iceland Collection exhibition at Four Point Gallery, Newcastle.

“For me this collection is all about forging my new path as an artist and fulfilling my dream”.

The Iceland Collection exhibition will launch on Saturday 18th October, 2014 at Four Point Gallery, 681 Hunter Street, Newcastle. The exhibition will feature a collection of limited edition and open edition fine art prints for sale.
